Lux Radio Theatre

The Lux Radio Theatre was a long-running radio show broadcast on CBS Radio from 1934 to 1955. The show featured adaptations of popular plays and films, with the original stars reprising their roles. The show was hosted by Cecil B. DeMille, who directed many of the plays and films adapted for the show. The show was sponsored by Lever Brothers, and was highly successful, running for over 20 years and becoming one of the most popular shows on the air. It was a staple of family entertainment in the 1940s, and won numerous awards, including the Peabody Award.

Decoder Ring Theatre

Decoder Ring Theatre is an audio drama podcast hosted by Gregg Taylor that tells original stories in the style of old-time radio theater. It follows an anthology format, with each episode featuring a new story, often with a supernatural or science fiction twist. Taylor plays the role of host, introducing the stories in the style of a 1940s-era radio drama, often with humorous asides and references to the genres chosen for each episode. The stories are often original, although some are based on classic tales such as “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” and “The Call of Cthulhu.” The podcast features a large cast of voice actors and sound effects, as well as original music composed by Taylor himself. The podcast has been running since 2004 and is still producing new episodes.
